Pressure Sensitive Laminates

Pressure-sensitive laminates are manufactured out of either clear vinyl or polyester films. They are available in a wide variety of finishes ranging from matte, satin, luster, gloss, high gloss, or textured. These laminates have an adhesive on one surface that is applied using pressure to the top or front side of an image to add projection. An over-laminating film can also be applied to both sides of an image, this is known as encapsulating.

Heat Activated Laminates

Heat-activated laminates are manufactured out of polyester films. They are available in a wide variety of finishes ranging from matte, satin, luster, gloss, high gloss, or textured. These laminates have an adhesive on one surface that is applied using heated rollers to the top or front side of an image to add projection. An over-laminating film can also be applied to both sides of an image, this is known as encapsulating.

Backing Films

Backing films are designed to apply to the backside of a printed image to obtain some level of opacity and rigidity to prevent curling when rolled up. Backing films are also used to encapsulate an image when an over-laminating film is also applied to the top surface.

Mounting Adhesives

Pressure-sensitive mounting adhesives are used to bond a printed image to a substrate or surface. Adhesive can be applied to the face or back of an image depending on the finished product. These adhesives come with either a water-based adhesive which is best suited for indoor applications, or a solvent-based adhesive for outdoor applications.
